Title: Gabrielle
Ceramic, oxides, recycled glaze, 2023.
Contemporary ceramic figure made during the evening of cyclone Gabrielle, while the storm raged outside my Auckland home.
Size:
Gabrielle, with a heart that’s torn
Raging winds and rain, a storm brutally born
She wails through cities, leaving pain and strife
Her broken heart, a symbol of life
Melancholic secrets, of love lost and gone
Her winds howl, a mournful song
She wreaks havoc, on both land and sea
A storm with a heart, unwillingly set free
Her heavy tears fall, in rivers from the sky
A reminder, that sometimes love just dies
But in the aftermath, hope is born
And Gabrielle’s broken heart, is no longer torn
