Title: Trypo XIII
Stoneware and Raku fired NZ red clay with layered gloss crystal glazes.
Colour: Fully glazed both sides with crystal embedded glazes over dark chocolate brown, exploding into pockets of blue and greens, mimicking the mossy rocks found along New Zealand coastlines.
Can be displayed on the wall (hooks required- not included) or on a flat surface/table. Designed to be displayed on either side at multiple angles depending on personal preference.
Karen Wilde’s Trypo universe emerged from the ontological study of holes and their symbiotic negative and positive relationship with space. The artworks distort the figurative form and pictorial language of holes into non-objective sculptures, with underlying themes around cells, macro-organisms, fossils and organic forms, enhanced with experimental glaze and firing processes.
