Kererū Birds
Earthenware fired NZ red clay with burnished (polished) finish.
Edition of 2 contemporary native NZ wood pigeons, select sculpture size from menu or option to purchase both (while available).
These sculptures are handbuilt over a paper armature that is burned out in the kiln. They are unglazed and spoon polished at the leatherhard stage before firing to 1000 degrees Celsius (which is hotter than traditional burnished earthenware fired clay but allows for a good balance of fired clay strength and burnished finish). Each piece is then final polish buffed with natural beeswax.
