Title: Trypo XII
Stoneware fired NZ red clay with layered experimental glaze alchemy.
Colour: Partially glazed on both sides with various colours and bubbly crater/lava glazes in blue/green/yellow/brown hues. Raw clay areas are fired to dark brown.
Can be displayed on the wall (hooks required- not included) or on a flat surface/table. Designed to be displayed on either side at multiple angles depending on personal preference.
Karen Wilde’s Trypo universe emerged from the ontological study of holes and their symbiotic negative and positive relationship with space. The artworks distort the figurative form and pictorial language of holes into non-objective sculptures, with underlying themes around cells, macro-organisms, fossils and organic forms, enhanced with experimental glaze and firing processes.
